Prime Factors

Factor of a number is the divisor by which the dividend is completely divisible that is leaving no remainder. If such divisor is a prime number then it is called prime factor. Therefore, factors of a number which are prime are known as prime factor.

For Example:

Find the prime factors of 289

The prime factors of 289 are:

17 × 17

Or, 17, 17

Here are few more examples illustrated on prime factors:

1. Find the prime factors of 57

Solution:

The prime factors of 57 are:

19 × 3 or 19, 3


2. Find the prime factors of 343

Solution:

The prime factors of 343 are:

7 × 7 × 7

 Or, 7, 7, 7


3. List the prime factors of 87

Solution:

3 × 29

Or, 3, 29


4. List the prime factors of 15

Solution:
